Application of Rack Pinion Mechanism

Input: pink cam-crank.
Output: yellow gear rotating interruptedly.
Violet pin keeps the gear immobile during its dwell.
The dwell time depends on the cam profile (around half working cycle of one cam’s revolution in this video).
Output rotation angle depends on the cam profile and the crank radius.
The cam controls gear-rack engagement and gear locking.
Gear tips should be rounded maximally to ease the enter to engagement.
Red spring maintains roller-cam contact.
